Which is the best kayak for beginners?
Width and displacement are the most essential aspects of a beginner's kayak. You want a stable, easy-to-paddle kayak as your first craft. Having a sporty thin, fast kayak, you fall out of it all the time, will be less enjoyable.
Is a longer or shorter kayak better?
The longer the kayak you buy will be easier to paddle as a longer kayak, in general, will paddle in a straight line more than a shorter kayak. Shorter kayaks want to turn all the time, so ideal if you are good and want to play wave riding or do freestyle.
Is kayaking difficult?
A sit-on-top kayak is easy to learn the basics on. When you buy a canoe/kayak that you sit in and have a skirt, which stops water from entering the craft, you will need lessons learning how to roll the boat back upright. So get a sit-on-top kayak with plenty of volume for your body weight to start with.
Is kayaking a good exercise?
Kayaking is excellent exercise. It can be as hard or as easy as you want to make it. Mentally and physically, it is a perfect way of getting some exercise.
What is the difference between a kayak and a canoe?
Kayaking, the paddler sits and uses a double-bladed paddle to move the boat forward by pulling the blade through the water on alternate sides. In canoeing, the paddler kneels and uses a single-bladed paddle to propel the boat forward.
We stock the Tootega sit-on-top kayak, a plastic rigid sit-on-top canoe made in the United Kingdom. The Tootega range is made for British sea conditions. They have a low centre of gravity and a little more nose rocker than other manufacturers. The United Kingdom is well known for its choppy short waves, so it is great to be on a Tootega Pulse, which is very stable for recreational paddling. If you are a lady and looking for one of the lightest sit-on-top watercraft made, then look no further than the Tootega Hydrolight.
We also sell the Sandbanks Style inflatable kayaks, made with a three-year warranty. The Sandbanks style Explorer and Optimal Kayaks are made with the same technology as their paddle boards, which have been tested winners for their designs and quality manufacturing.
The Optimal is built with a slight V in the bottom of the inflatable hull, making the Sandbanks Optimal a quick Kayak to paddle over the water. The Sandbanks Explorer has a little more space and has been very popular with families. Both canoe types are made as single hander or with tandem seats.
We also sell an extensive range of buoyancy aids and Kayak accessories.
