Boardshorts are what we are known for
Mens boardshorts from £24, with 24 in stock across Hurley, Rip Curl, O'Neill, Mystic, Fox and Patagonia. Hurley and Rip Curl both do a proper performance short — four-way stretch and quick-dry, which you notice on a long session. If you want something you can also walk about in, look at walk shorts.
Tees, hoodies and layers
Mens t-shirts — 78 in stock, including Patagonia organic and undyed cotton. Hoodies and crews, shirts, and jackets for when it turns.
Worth knowing: a cotton hoodie is comfortable and useless once damp. If it is going in the car for after a session, buy fleece. If it is for the walk into town, cotton is fine and cheaper.
Flip flops, caps and the rest
Flip flops from Reef, Dakine and Rip Curl — the Reef Fanning is the one people ask for by name. Caps and sun hats, 67 in stock. Beanies and Buff neckwear for winter, Stance socks, jeans and wallets, belts and bits.
After a session in cold water
The clothing that matters most in a Kent winter is what goes on afterwards. A changing robe, a dry beanie and something warm on top. You lose a lot of heat through a wet head, and it is the difference between shivering for ten minutes and shivering for an hour.
Come in and try it on
Sizing varies between brands — a Patagonia medium and a Rip Curl medium are not the same garment. We are on Beach Walk in Whitstable, Monday to Saturday 9:30 to 17:00, and Sunday 10:00 to 13:00 in summer.
