Choosing the right leash
you should always buy a leash the same length or longer than your board, shortboard leashes come with a velcro ankle cuff, while longboard leashes can be ankle or knee/calf cuff, the calf leashes are better for walking the board as don't get caught under foot.
You will also want to choose the leash for the size of waves you will be riding, the options are comp, regular and big wave.
Comp leashes have a thinner cord for smaller waves these have less drag.
Regular for all wave conditions and normally a 7mm thick cord.
Big waves: a thicker cord for larger more powerful waves.
